The KIMAIA Mom Project

Dear you,

I am grateful that you are here. That you are taking the time to read this.
The end of the year is in sight. We are in the middle of December. The most special month of the year.

For many people, this period is a symbol of warmth, togetherness, and abundance. But the reality is that for thousands of families in the Netherlands, it feels different. There are parents living below the poverty line, families under budget management where every euro is accounted for in advance. For them, this month does not mean extras, but extra tension. Especially in a time that should be all about giving.

I always carry my past with me.

I was a child from such a family myself. A family where financial worries were part of daily life. That experience shaped me. It gave me resilience and the drive to persevere and build something. Step by step.

Today, I am in a different place. I am grateful for what I have been able to achieve, despite the many bumps in the road. Together with a fantastic team, I build on KIMAIA every day. A brand that for me is not only about what we make, but above all about what we stand for: care, awareness, and connection.

I never forget where I come from. That is precisely why I don't want to keep my success to myself. I love giving. I love taking responsibility when you can.

That is why we at KIMAIA have started The KIMAIA Mom Project.
With this project, we are consciously focusing on families with children who have to structurally live on a minimum income or are dependent on budget management. Families where grocery shopping often means: calculating, crossing things off, and making choices you would rather not have to make. Because I know myself what it feels like to be that child, this is where my heart lies.

That does not mean others who are struggling are any less important. Poverty comes in many forms. With this project, we choose to keep our focus clear so that we can help in a targeted and concrete way.

Through our gift shop, you can purchase grocery gift cards. As many as you like.
We will match every gift card you buy.

With the total amount, we will purchase supermarket gift cards that can be used directly for groceries. Our goal is to make at least €100 available per family. So that there is a bit of breathing room. Peace. One less worry.

With The KIMAIA Mom Project, I hope to do something else as well: create awareness. To pause for a moment and reflect on the fact that what is taken for granted by one is not always the case for another.

Thank you for being here.
Thank you if you join us.

Love,
Kim
Taking care of each other starts by acknowledging that not everyone had the same start.
